Michelle Kuhn, LMHC

I’m a licensed mental health counselor with a holistic framework that addresses mind, body, and spirit.

I consider it a great honor to bear compassionate witness to my clients’ stories - to help them make meaning of their experiences in a way that brings healing & restoration

In sessions with me, you can expect a warm and supportive environment to explore central themes in your life narrative and explore how your family of origin, significant life experiences, and cultural systems may be impacting your overall well-being.

My professional interests include developmental trauma, identity, faith deconstruction/ reconstruction, family roles and transitions, attachment, addiction, codependence, relational issues, self-esteem, and anxiety.

I use a holistic framework that addresses mind, body, and spirit. Drawing on my experience as a yoga teacher, I offer somatic techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork to deepen the mind/body connection. I help my clients learn to listen carefully to the messages their bodies are sending them and teach them ways to regulate and soothe their nervous systems.

I am a trained practitioner of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge so they no longer cause severe distress. Change is possible to how memories are stored in the brain and, therefore, how they live in a person’s body. This type of therapy is successful in treating PTSD, anxiety, phobias, depression and other issues.

Working Together

I incorporate parts work, which helps clients understand their inner landscape by identifying, understanding, and unburdening different “parts” of themselves. The parts (ex. the Inner Critic, the Pleaser, the Wounded Child) that hold specific thoughts, feelings, and roles. Parts work can help clients develop insight, build self-compassion, and connect more often with their wise, compassionate, calm, and confident Self.

In couples therapy with me, clients can expect to learn how their family systems, attachment styles, and personal values are influencing their current relationship. We will identify and challenge destructive cycles and discover the underlying emotions driving interpersonal conflict. These insights help clients communicate more effectively and deepen intimacy and connection with their partner.
