Megan Butler, LMHC

I’m a licensed mental health counselor for both individuals and couples. My focus is faith-based relationship and sex therapy.

I believe that the therapy space should be filled with warmth, curiosity – and the safety required to consider taking the risks that go along with change.

My work with individual adults and couples often relates to anxiety, grief, relational conflict and repair, communication, sexual integration, sexual struggles (desire, pain, arousal, and orgasm concerns), trauma, and sexual trauma.

In sessions, we’ll work alongside each other to explore what stands in the way of your desired personal and relational growth. (What do you need, or need more of, to take the first steps?) Together we’ll consider the roots, present-day pain points, and paths to hope and healing for the struggles you are facing.

I aim to help normalize conversations, care, and education about sex and sexuality. I’m passionate about helping people explore healthy intimacy of all kinds within themselves and their relationships — emotional, physical, intellectual, experiential, sexual, and spiritual.

I’m also passionate about exploring topics related to sex and sexuality through the lenses of faith and spirituality. All faiths and beliefs, including none, are welcome! For those looking to integrate their beliefs with the therapeutic process, I offer Christian counseling and Christian sex therapy.

Working Together

I believe in the power of therapy as a ritual when we explore together what, in your brain and body, can be formed in the safety of a therapeutic relationship.

I am in ongoing training through the Modern Sex Institute pursuing certification as a Sex Therapist (2026). My approach incorporates biological, psychological, emotional, interpersonal, and spiritual lenses. I am a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and the American Board of Christian Sex Therapists (ABCST).

I am an EMDR Trained Clinician from the EMDR Institute. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that seeks to aid the brain and body in making adaptive sense of unprocessed distressing memories. EMDR can be effective in treating a range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, grief, and negative self-beliefs.

I have completed the EFT Externship from ICEEFT. EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) is an evidence-based approach that utilizes attachment theory to aid in identifying cycles of disconnection — and movement towards corrective relational experiences. I am also a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, trained to work with dating, engaged, and married couples.

I incorporate parts work, a therapeutic approach that involves finding curiosity and compassion for various protective and wounded “parts” within ourselves. By learning more about these parts – and why they feel and respond the way they do – we can seek healing, change, and growth.

I also incorporate an understanding of the nervous system and how it responds to cues of safety and threat. By bringing awareness to these physiological patterns in our emotions and behaviors, we can cultivate greater self-compassion and begin to shift from survival-based responses toward greater regulation, connection, and healing.

For those looking to integrate their beliefs, I offer Christian counseling and Christian sex therapy. I earned a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling (MACC) from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I also worked as a counselor at Redeemer Counseling Services (RCS), where I was trained in their Gospel-Centered Integrative Framework for Therapy (GIFT).
